Medical air transport without borders:

AMEGA's air ambulance service is the ideal solution for transporting patients in critical condition who require rapid and safe transfers between international medical facilities. We operate specially configured jet aircraft that function as mobile intensive care units, capable of crossing continents.

⚡

Rapid Intervention

Our logistics system is designed for absolute emergencies. From the moment of confirmation, the aircraft and the AMEGA medical team are ready for takeoff in less than 120 minutes. We operate 24/7, without exception, to ensure the optimal rescue window.

🏥

ICU Expertise: The elite of emergency medicine

Each mission is coordinated by an elite medical team: a specialist anesthesiologist (ICU) and an intensive care nurse, both certified in aeronautical medicine. Alongside pilots with thousands of hours in MEDEVAC missions, they guarantee patient stability at an altitude of 30,000 feet (10,000 meters).

✈️

With an active presence on all continents, AMEGA fully manages the complexity of international flights. From swiftly obtaining overflight permits to coordinating with destination hospitals, we remove every bureaucratic barrier to ensure a seamless medical repatriation.

Situations in which the air
ambulance saves lives

The air ambulance service (private medical jet) is considered the "gold standard" in medical transport. It becomes essential when a patient's condition, the distance, or the required intervention time rules out other means of transport.

🚨

Critically ill or unstable ICU patient (ICU)

If a patient requires continuous monitoring and life support equipment found only in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a medical aircraft is the only safe option.

  • Intubated or mechanically ventilated patients: Their transport requires high-performance ventilators and continuous medical gas sources throughout the flight.
  • Hemodynamic support: This is vital for patients receiving continuous medication to maintain blood pressure or heart function.
🌍

The need for sea level flight

Certain pathologies do not allow for travel on commercial airliners due to the drop in atmospheric pressure at high altitudes. A specialized air ambulance can maintain cabin pressure at sea level (Sea Level Cabin Pressure), which is mandatory for:

  • Pneumothorax (presence of air in the pleural cavity);
  • Bowel obstructions (where gas expansion can cause perforations);
  • Severe head trauma or recent ophthalmic (eyeball) surgeries.
🏔️

Long/hard-to-reach distances and transcontinental repatriations

When a patient must be transferred between continents or across thousands of kilometers, ground transport is excluded as the duration would exhaust their physiological resources. The air ambulance offers maximum speed within a sterile, controlled environment.

⏱️

Specialized neonatal and pediatric transfer

For premature newborns or children with congenital conditions requiring transport in a medical incubator, a private flight provides the necessary space and stable environment to operate sensitive pediatric equipment.

How the air ambulance
works

From the initial call to patient handover, every step is perfectly coordinated to ensure maximum safety.

01

Initial Request and Consultation (24/7)

It all starts with a call or a message to our dispatch center. A dedicated coordinator gathers the preliminary data: the patient's current location, the desired destination, and their general health status. At this stage, you receive clear information regarding available options and an initial budget estimate.

02

"Fit-to-Fly" Medical Assessment

You will be asked to provide the medical file (reports, tests, oxygen requirements). Our team, under the coordination of Dr. Valentin Dingă, analyzes the documents to confirm if the patient can be safely transported by air. The required level of assistance is then determined: ALS (Advanced Life Support) or BLS (Basic Life Support).

03

Logistics planning and final quotation

Following the medical assessment, we configure the mission: we select the appropriate aircraft (Jet or Turboprop), assign the crew (doctor and nurse), and obtain the necessary overflight and landing permits. You will receive a final, transparent offer that includes all costs, based on our "Bed-to-Bed" concept.

04

Airport ground transfer

Once the mission is confirmed, an intensive care ambulance picks up the patient directly from their hospital bed. The flight medical team takes over, ensuring continuous monitoring of vital functions throughout the transfer to the airport, eliminating any stress for the family.

05

Medical flight

The patient is stabilized onboard the aircraft, which is fully equipped as a mobile intensive care unit. During the flight, the AMEGA doctor and nurse continuously monitor the patient's condition and administer any necessary treatment.

06

Delivery to the destination hospital

Upon landing, a partner ambulance waits on the tarmac. Our team hands over the patient to the receiving medical crew, providing a detailed medical report on the patient's status throughout the transport.

Transparent and predictable

Each mission is evaluated individually to ensure there are no hidden costs.

Distance and Route

Includes fuel consumption, overflight fees, and international airport taxes.

Air ambulance form

Everything you need to know

What is the difference between an air ambulance and a private charter flight?
+
An air ambulance is an aircraft specifically configured as a mobile Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Unlike a regular charter, it is equipped with certified medical technology (ventilators, monitors, defibrillators) and is staffed by an ICU medical crew (doctor and nurse) certified in aeronautical medicine.
How fast can an AMEGA air ambulance take off?
+
We are leaders in rapid intervention. Thanks to our integrated logistics, we can ensure takeoff in less than 2 hours from mission confirmation. Our Case Management team works 24/7 to obtain emergency overflight and landing permits.
What does “Bed-to-Bed” transport mean?
+
This is our gold standard for safety. We fully manage the transport from the patient's bed at the hospital of origin to their bed at the destination facility. The service includes the ground ambulance transfer to the aircraft, the medical flight, and the ambulance from the arrival airport to the destination hospital.
Can a family member accompany the patient?
+
Yes, most medical jets allow at least one companion in the cabin alongside the patient and the medical team. Our coordinators will inform you about the available space based on the specific aircraft type chosen.
Is the patient safe at high altitudes?
+
Absolutely. Our teams apply strict clinical protocols adapted to the physiology of flight. For pressure-sensitive conditions, we utilize aircraft capable of maintaining "Sea Level Cabin Pressure," eliminating risks associated with gas expansion or hypoxia.
Who decides if the patient is fit for flight (Fit-to-Fly)?
+
The final decision rests with our aeromedical examiner following a rigorous evaluation of the medical file. Dr. Valentin Dingă and his team collaborate with the attending physicians to ensure the transfer is conducted under conditions of clinical stability.
How much does an air ambulance flight cost?
+
Costs are customized based on the flight route, aircraft type (Jet or Turboprop), the complexity of the medical case, and airport fees. We provide transparent, "all-inclusive" quotes within 60 minutes of your request.
Does medical insurance cover transport costs?
+
Yes, if you have a travel or international insurance policy that includes a medical repatriation clause. The AMEGA Case Manager can communicate directly with your insurer to obtain a Letter of Guarantee (LOG) or Guarantee of Payment (GOP).
What equipment is available onboard?
+
Each air ambulance is equipped according to EASA/FAA standards with: transport ventilators, multiparameter monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, medical gases, and advanced life support (ALS) emergency kits.
What happens if the patient's condition changes during the flight?
+
The onboard medical crew (ICU doctor and nurse) is prepared to intervene immediately. We carry all the necessary equipment and medication to stabilize the patient and, if necessary, divert to the nearest appropriate medical facility to ensure continued safety.
